| Since
January of 2002, there has been a ski resort in Salamanca located in
the summits of the Sierra of Béjar, in the western sector of
the Central System. Its slopes extend down the northern side of range,
in a north-northeastern direction, favouring the accumulation of snow
and its continual presence from the end of autumn until the beginning
of spring. The Sierra de Béjar-La Covatilla ski resort offers ski lovers 17 coloured runs (seven blue, three green and seven red), with a total length of 15 Km. Its lifts consist of a four-person chairlift 1,230 m long and a maximum altitude of 2,227 m., a 578 m ski lift for the summit, and a ski lift for beginners 170 m. These allow for approximately 1,800 skiers. Access to the resort can be gained from the road N-630, from which another road goes to the towns of Navacarros and La Hoya and the entrance to the car park and other complementary facilities of the ski resort, at an altitude of nearly 2,000 m. |
