| Two small
rivers, the Francia
and the San Benito,
surround this old village located in the heart of the Sierra
de Francia. Defended by solid walls, the solemn figures of the tower of homage of the castle and the parochial church stand out in the unmistakable silhouette of the village that held the jurisdictional power of the whole mountain range from the XIII century. Go into in the village through the door of San Ginés, next to the castle and the old market and enjoy the walk along Calle Larga. You will experience a trip to the past, to times in which Jews and Moors lived in these narrow streets and where the houses carry the coat of arms of their original occupants. Visit the butcher shops, the jail, the Notary's house, the house of los Tejeda and the other gateways of the city's wall; exit through any of them and return to the beginning of your excursion by skirting around the old wall so you can enjoy the spectacular views of the Sierra de Francia. |
